Majandusteooria professori ametikohale kandideerija vanemteaduri Kaire Põderi avalik loeng venia legendi teemal „Challenges of microeconomics: Games, mechanisms, implementation and beyond“ toimub 8. juunil kell 16.00 ruumis SOC 413.
Economists have gained significant experience (and fame) in practical market design in the recent years. The applications of the theoretical principles of market design demonstrate that institutions matter at a level of details that economists have not often had to deal with. This line of reasoning takes game theory (strategic behavior) as a cornerstone of the discourse and asks applied questions related to policy and matching markets design. In early nineties this branch was emerging under the umbrella of “Implementation theory”, which currently involves many streams such as voting mechanisms, auctions, matching mechanisms and similar. The open lecture will introduce such a research agenda and integrate my recent (mostly unpublished) research into wider context. Most of my recent research is based on seminal papers by Gale and Shapley (1962) and were initially used for entry-level job markets such as National-Resident Matching Program and others (Roth, 2008). The core of the curricula is to apply a central mechanism that collects information from market participant as preferences and matches two-sides of market under some social (fairness) priorities. Moreover, the research design in these areas often deviates from formal (neoclassical) modelling techniques by applying behavioural and computational experiments, agent-based modelling and social computational techniques, which will be also shortly discussed.
