Tallinn University of Technology to adopt short name TalTech
As of September 17, Tallinn University of Technology will adopt a new short name TalTech, replacing the previous abbreviations such as TTÜ, TUT and TTU.
„Tallinn University of Technology has undergone major changes in both work and study arrangements in the past couple of years in order to have a modern teaching and working environment suitable for talent, which would continue to generate outstanding research results and technological solutions to the challenges facing Estonia and the world,“ described Rector of Tallinn University of Technology Jaak Aaviksoo
According to Rector Aaviksoo, introduction of the new short name in the university's 100th anniversary year marks the end of one development phase and the arrival of the next century. The short name TalTech has been in use for several projects within the University for some time now, but now it will receive a fresh form and become the official short name of the university both in Estonia and internationally.
„We already have a lot of foreign lecturers and students, our research teams have bright minds from around the world. In order to remain competitive and continue to attract talents to our university from home and beyond, we must be strong and prominent in international comparison. A powerful and distinctive name is only one small part of the whole identity and image, but still important,“ said Aaviksoo.
