School of Information Technologies provides a comprehensive overview of smart city development projects
The School of Information Technologies opened a new blog introducing the possibilities of the Internet of Things (IoT). In addition to introducing the IoT, the blog focuses on the topics related to the Internet of Things in close relationship with the University.
For example, the blog provides a comprehensive overview of the first self-driving car ISEAUTO in Estonia. In the first part of the four-part series, the blog editor, researcher Mairo Leier, writes about how the Mitsubishi i-Miev electric car was dismantled, and its running gear was used as the basis for ISEAUTO. The second part introduces the self-made controllers installed in ISEAUTO.
According to the researcher, the ISEAUTO project is unique because, in addition to many partners, students had a very important role to play in it.
The purpose of the blog is to introduce and raise interest in the Internet of Things in general
The target group for the blog is school teachers and high school students, but also university students, faculty and the general public.
In addition to the articles, short and striking videos will be created to help students and teachers understand the IoT. "More specifically, we will have a video from a LEGO house used as an example for introducing what a smart house consists of today and how it is managed," said Karin Härma from the TalTech School of IT.
According to Härmat, the major goal of the blog, along with software development, is to show how software and hardware are closely interlinked and create exciting solutions around us. In addition, the blog provides an overview of how TalTech plans to turn a university campus into a digital campus.
The Ministry of Education and Research and Estonian Research Council are supporting the completion of the blog.
