Different sleepy students, including four students from mechanical faculty- one sleepier than the other, gathered in front of the TUT in the morning of the first Saturday of November. The bus- ride to our destination- two storied vacation-complex was quiet and lasted for about half an hour. After unpacking our belongings there was two minutes to make acquintances by asking totally irrelevant questions about people and after that we got time to share the facts we found out. Surely the most important findings were the morning menu of somebody, also the favourite childhood-toy, species of a pet and the colour of ones underwear. Afterwards we divided ourselves into several groups and the training-part was about to start. During the first training “Teambuilding and –leading“ we discussed several steps of forming a team and after that we were also enlightened how a „perfect team“ should be built up. We also specified the definition of „Student council (ÜN)“. After a full meal at lunchtime and some other group-works later there was time for the second training „Marketing, finding sponsors“. We got the opportunity to role-play different situations in the marketing and sponsoring field, which gave us the thought that we should also be approaching these topics more agressively, than we have been so far.
As there was time for dinner, the students were already more comfortable with each other and most of us were happy to agree to play some socializing games after a short time of digesting yet another huge meal. Who knows how many of us also were sitting in the sauna built for maybe five persons and soaked our meat off our bones in a slightly too hot barrel-sauna. After a long and fun socializing evening the mechanical students also went to bed after a collective teeth-brushing. Of course what it really meant was at least an hour of laughing over silly things. At least finally there was realization that in the game of „Who shuts up first is the winner“ this bunch of mechanics was unbeatable.
The night was rather hot, but for our surprise there was still some air left to breathe in the morning, this of course only because the door of our room was wide open. After the breakfast, that Juhan had for whole Estonia, we made some conclusions about what we had learned yesterday. It was good to realize that MEHÜN is already past the problems and conflicts by our scenario. As Tauri explained the details of the educational referendum, the bus was already there to pick us up. All tired, we finally arrived in front of the TUT again to notice that some people haven’t got any idea how simple gears look like.
We’d like to thank Marta for making it all happen, also the trainers Kaie and Sten!
Also a big thanks for all of the fun and nice people for being there!
Let the end of the autumn be filled with wisdom for all the students of TUT!
