TalTech is creating Moon Habitat
On 27.11.2018, Mrs Tatiana Benavides, Administrator of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Swiss Space Center (SSC) will visit TalTech for the progress meeting of the students’ IGLUNA demoproject for developing solutions for the habitat on Moon (www.spacecenter.ch/igluna/).
The project aims at collaborating with 14 European university students, as well as international networks and entrepreneurs, to develop new technologies to enable people to settle on the Moon, as well as elsewhere, to cope with a cold and isolated environment. The project demo will take place in Matterhorn Ice Cave in July 2019 in Switzerland.
TalTech will take part in the project with 20 students from the engineering and IT departments (Design and Technology Futures, joint programme of TalTech and Estonian Academy of Arts and the Electronics, Software Science and Health Technologies specialities of TalTech).
The focus of TalTech students is on the wellbeing of astronauts in their everyday life in Moon habitat in isolation and in microgravity. The themes of three projects are:
- human activity and health monitoring;
- smart energy management of the habitat;
- physical training device in microgravity.
