UNICA Seminar at TalTech
On 8 May 2019, Anna-Maria Nizovtseva (International Cooperation Coordinator, the TalTech Division for International Cooperation) was elected as the Deputy IRO (International Relations Officers) Observer to the UNICA Steering Committee. The elections were held within the framework of the 25th UNICA IRO Meeting that was held in Estonia, attended by representatives of 25 European universities, and jointly organised by TalTech and Tallinn University.
UNICA is an influential network of 51 universities from 37 capital cities of Europe. TalTech has been an active member of the network since 2001. On 7 May, during the TalTech-hosted seminar, Anna-Maria Nizovtseva chaired a session on the role of IRO Officers in crisis situations. In addition, the attendees enjoyed a comprehensive presentation on our university’s latest developments related to the TalTechDigital initiative as well as the Smart Campus (delivered by Reijo Karu, Head of the TalTech Division for International Cooperation). Also, the foreign guests were impressed by the lecture on crisis management from a cybersecurity perspective (delivered by Professor Rain Ottis, Programme Director/Cybersecurity, Department of Software Science, the TalTech School of Information Technologies).
The presentations were followed by highly productive discussions in working groups. By the end of the seminar, the participants concluded that an IRO has a prime role in the framework of finding a right solution in a time of crisis, especially as a provider of a communicational channel. Finally, a high professional level of TalTech and its integral units was acknowledged by the UNICA Secretariat as well as all participants of the seminar.
