The Research and Development Centre of Estonian Maritime Academy (EMARA) has made its goal to develop and advance the cooperation between public and private sector in Estonian Maritime Cluster. To contribute in the development of the sector we offer science-based competence in the fields of shipping, maritime safety and security, maritime transport and economics, as well as provide input to maritime related legislation, strategic development documents and their implementation in the national and international level.
Research and development activities in EMARA are guided by two main directions:
- By 2025, Estonian maritime research has achieved high and internationally recognised level. Based on modern and innovative infrastructure we provide the maritime market new specialists in cooperation with national and international scientists and enterprises.
- Estonian maritime research operates in the interest of the society, public and private sector. It is guided by international development trends, sectors' needs and is oriented to forming synergies with other fields of research.
Our centre coordinates R&D activities in EMARA, contributes into writing project applications, as well as in the implementation of projects at national and international level. We also support our academic staff in initiating and coordinating the knowledge transfer services. Based on the special expertise of the employees of research and development centre, we initiate R&D projects, involve experts into the projects and coordinate the publishing of the research results.
